NEHL April 2026 Round-Up
Peterbowl
200 points (no named heroes) - 3 Games
1st: Vincent Lüdge - Wolf Pack of Angmar
2nd: Thomas Kindness - Kingdom of Khazad-Dum
3rd: Stephen Davison - Wolves of Isengard
Most Sporting: David Millar
An old favourite of low-points meta has reared its fanged head this month. Vincent Lüdge made an impression during his time visiting the North East of England. Not only did he go undefeated for a fortnight, he scooped up 1st place with Wolf Pack, dominating with 3 decisive wins in movement-based scenarios. Peterbowl veteran Thomas Kindness was knocked off the top spot after trading uruks for dwarves, with Convergence proving difficult against the Kingdom of Rohan. Proving that mobility was king this month, Stephen Davison rounds out the podium with Wolves of Isengard, beating all contenders other than this month’s winner.
David Millar made his debut appearance at Peterbowl and clearly proved a welcome addition to the roster, bagging himself the Most Sporting Prize.
The Northern Realms Open
1000 points - 3 Games
1st: Jack Thurlbeck - Legions of Mordor
2nd: Andrew Lister - Ride Out
3rd: Brad Defty - Host of the Dragon Emperor
Best Painted Single Miniature: Graham Atkinson - Defenders of the Pelennor
Best Painted Army: Alistair Twomey
Most Sporting: Jake Pollard
Revisiting the points level last seen in the region at the 2025 GBHL Finale, players descended on Northern Alliance for another day of 1000-point games with all of their toys. Brad Defty achieved 3rd place with tight wins against reliable battlelines like Reclamation of Osgiliath and Defenders of Erebor, but the Dragon Emperor proved solid enough to break through them.
Next up, Andrew Lister sounded the horn of Helm Hammerhand and led Ride Out to its first ever GBHL podium of the edition! Charging through Barad Dur and Minas Morgul with only 1 VP conceded across 2 games, a nail-biting finish against Andy Mee’s Battle of the Five Armies saw a 9-8 outcome for Andrew to secure his position.
Securing a double* win for the North Easterlings, Jack Thurlbeck’s Legions of Mordor rose to 1st place. Jack put his Mumak, the Tainted and Amdur to work against soupy lists - Grand Army of the South and Battle of the Five Armies - but his Mumak proved unstoppable on the day when it trampled Elrond and Gil-Galad underfoot in the final round.
The ever-friendly Jake Pollard took the award for Most Sporting, putting himself in close contention for Sporting awards in the GBHL. Peter put up two awards for hobbying. The first went to Graham Atkinson for his stunning Prince Imrahil, and the second went to Alistair Twomey for his lake-trodding Erebor Reclaimed army.
*Technically, this is a triple win for the North Easterlings with Jake’s Sporting prize.
Thursday Night Throwdown
350 points - 3 Games
1st: Jordan Sah - Defenders of the Pelennor
2nd: Jack Zalokoski - Burhdur’s Horde
3rd: Christopher McAneary - Kingdom of Khazad Dum
This Thursday Night Throwdown favoured some off-meta choices for low points. Chris McAneary’s Khazad Dum managed 3rd place, squeezing in a Dwarf King and a Dwarf captain to grant a podium spot for the Real Housewives. In 2nd place, Jack Zalokoski caused some headaches with Burdhur’s Horde and a Wild Warg Chieftain - two very difficult threats to juggle at low points.
Triumphing over all opponents and taking the top spot is Jordan Sah. You’d be forgiven for expecting a cheesy-toxic-meta-sweat list, but Jordan has proven his merit with an unorthodox build for Defenders of the Pelennor. With only 11 models total, Jordan proves that a simple bonus of 2 Heroic Combats can make a massive difference at low points levels.
